Which nodes get the EMR uplift?
Master and core nodes receive the EMR software uplift. Task nodes are EC2-only — a common cost optimization is On-Demand master/core with Spot task nodes.
How does Spot pricing apply to task nodes?
EMR on EC2 supports Spot Instances for task nodes (and core nodes with fault tolerance). This calculator applies a 65% Spot discount as a planning estimate on task nodes only.
What is EMR Serverless billed on?
EMR Serverless bills vCPU-hours at $0.052624 and memory GB-hours at $0.0057785 in us-east-1. You pay only while jobs run — no cluster idle cost.
Does this include S3, Glue, or data transfer?
